Splendor and the Inspiration

Feeling inspired today by the lovely Natalie Wood.

"If I didn't believe in what I'm doing, I'd rather go to work in a dime store. "

"My mother used to tell me, No matter what they ask you, always say yes. You can learn later."

"The only time a woman really succeeds in changing a man is when he is a baby. "

"We all wanted to copy Vivien Leigh. "

"I was so overprotected, I used to think I was as delicate as people said I was. "

"Almost every girl falls in love with the wrong man, I suppose it's part of growing up."

"I never saw film stars at home. We had no maid, no cook, no swimming pool. "

"I'm not very bright about money. I'm not domestic either. If I don't learn how to cook, maybe I won't have to."

"I thought it was a wonderful line - right on the cutting room floor. "

"I'm just going to have to grow old, because I'm too terrified to have anything done. "

Rent to Chic

Need a pre-party assist?? Head to Wardrobe NYC, the high-end, however non-intimidating, clothing rental salon (yes Rental Salon) run by stylist Neva Lindner. This young entrepreneur began her amazingly successful & unique business by opening her closet (also known as The Showroom)... she is now catering to the needs of the party-event going public. (Even though her regular gig involves people more like Sharon Stone and Natalie Portman)

You can choose from Narciso, ChloƩ, Rubin, Lacriox, Rick Owens, and more. No stranger to the New York designer fashion world, Linder is also exquisitely profound at scoring new looks fresh off the runway. The $250 consultation fee goes toward your first rental, which is 15% of the retail price of the dress.
Ok, so I realize this is not exactly a cheap price, but think to yourself..."Could I actually be caught dead in this $4,000 Roberto Cavalli again?" ;o)

Dress This Home

Dressing the Home: The Private Spaces of Top Fashion Designers
By Marie Bariller with 300 photographs by Guillaume de Laubier.

I am loving this book because it is quite interesting to see how fashion designers interpret their fashion techniques and style into the interiors of their homes. Some of the designers include Christian Louboutin, Catherine Malandrino, Patrick Cox, Betsey Johnson, and Diane von Furstenberg, as well as Dolce & Gabbana.

Check out Miss Betsey's Lovely Home:

In Love with Pink.
Rock N Roll, pop art, vintage punk, Mexican folk art...Betsey has it all in her fabulous abode.
According to listing information, the 1,660-square-foot, two bedroom, one bathroom, open-plan penthouse includes ebonized floors, a view over the rooftops of Greenwich Village all the way to New Jersey, a floating staircase that leads to a 1,000-square-foot private roof deck AND Right now this pink apartment can be yours for only $3.6 million.

Sui Sweet

I'll admit it, I am a sucker for Anna Sui.
I Love everything about her style.
Maybe it's the way I feel when I enter onto her web page...
like I want to sit down & stay a while.
Y'know, try out the furniture & live in her wonderful animated world for a bit!!
Maybe it's the Pucci inspired mannequins which trigger something in my head
that says "Ooooooo you're gonna LOVE every moment of this".
Maybe it's her story. The fact that she is a 100% self made woman who wouldn't take "no" for an answer. Whatever the reasons... the question is clear,
"Where else can you find such whimsical fantasy mixed with vintage goodness?"

LOVE the Anna Sui Vintage inspired Beauty Tote!!
And the spring'08 collection is a journey of brights and vivids
which would leave even the most manicured flower garden feeling a bit rivaled.....

Three cheers for tiny socks & AnkleStraps.

Inspired by Jackie

"The one thing I do not want to be called is First Lady. It sounds like a saddle horse."
Jackie Kennedy

Feeling Inspired today by
Jaqueline Kennedy Onassis...

"I want to live my life, not record it."
Jackie Kennedy

Chic Elegance

"I'll be a wife and mother first, then First Lady."
Jackie Kennedy

Simplistic Sophistication

Beauty, Brains & Brilliance...

"Now, I think that I should have known that he was magic all along. I did know it - but I should have guessed that it would be too much to ask to grow old with and see our children grow up together. So now, he is a legend when he would have preferred to be a man. "
Jackie Kennedy

"What is sad for women of my generation is that they weren't supposed to work if they had families. What were they going to do when the children are grown - watch the raindrops coming down the window pane?"
Jackie Kennedy
